The Cuban taxi driver Hubert Rodolfo Fonseca Rivero, who had been reported missing in Havana since last Sunday, has returned safely to his family.
According to the digital news site CubaNet, his wife Leidys Rodríguez explained that Fonseca's car broke down in Matanzas and his cellphone ran out of battery, preventing him from contacting anyone.
Rodríguez had previously sought help on social media: "I am his wife and I am desperate. I ask for help from everyone, thank you," she stated.
On Facebook, she mentioned that Fonseca had taken a trip with a friend to Tarará, in the Habana del Este municipality, where he was hired around 4:30 pm, but left no new traces afterwards.
On Monday, she filed a report at the 4th unit of the National Police.
In recent years—coinciding with the rise in violence in Cuba—reports of missing persons have become more frequent. This trend has caused significant concern among families, who often turn to social media and independent media outlets for help in locating their loved ones due to the absence of an official channel to address these cases.
