With the addition of 35 electric tricycles, Havana will implement two new routes for passenger transportation. The first route will connect the points 23 and 26 with 23 and L, both urban hubs located in El Vedado, while the second will link 23 and 26 with the Ciudad Deportiva and the Hospital Clínico Quirúrgico Joaquín Albarrán (Clínico de 26), in El Cerro, announced Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, Minister of Transport, via Facebook.
Rodríguez recently stated that the fleet of electric tricycles for public passenger transportation in Havana has increased with 35 new vehicles, adding to the 118 already operating in the city. He noted that these vehicles currently cover 17 routes across eight municipalities. In addition to the two new routes—one within El Vedado and the other connecting El Cerro and El Vedado—there are three in Guanabacoa, five in Boyeros, two in Playa, one in Plaza de la Revolución, one that connects Playa and Marianao, and three that connect Centro Habana, one of which links to La Habana Vieja and the other two to Plaza.
"In the coming months, the assembly process will continue, allowing us to extend this service to the rest of the provinces that do not yet have it," the official added.
Rodríguez Dávila also revealed that five electric tricycles have recently been deployed in each of the municipalities of Baracoa and Maisí in Guantánamo, as well as in Gibara, Holguín.
Amid the transportation crisis in Cuba and the ongoing fuel shortage, the government has promised to create high-tech electric tricycles equipped with solar panels. These vehicles will not only be used for passenger transportation but will also enhance the communication system and disseminate information of interest to the regime through their two screens and audio equipment.
