High-Speed Brightline Train Collides with Vehicle in Florida

Sunday, September 15, 2024 by Ava Castillo

A Brightline train collided with a car in Broward, Florida, and the consequences of the accident remain unknown, although it was due to the driver's negligence. Fortunately, the driver survived.

Images shared by the incident site Only in Dade on Instagram captured the moment when the train struck the car. The video shows the car stuck between the barrier arms that block access to the tracks, with the driver signaling to the train operator in a futile attempt to stop the high-speed train.

A Miami car dealership owner named Matthew Hicks commented that the vehicle belonged to his agency. "This is my car in the video. I find it hilarious. I lent my truck, and it didn't go as planned. No good deed goes unpunished," he noted, explaining that the woman driving mentioned the barrier came down and the vehicle stopped, although he attributed it to a panic attack.

Other users expressed disapproval of the incident, criticizing the disregard for traffic signals. "Most people in Miami think traffic signals are decorative," one person commented.

On the social media platform X, a user mentioned it was her first time using the Brightline service and experienced the accident, sharing the car's condition afterward.
