Cuban Singer Daymé Arocena Thrilled by Latin Grammy Song of the Year Nomination

Cuban singer Daymé Arocena has recently secured a nomination in the 25th edition of the Latin Grammy Awards, under the category of Song of the Year. Daymé was recognized alongside Dominican composer, musician, and singer Vicente García for their song "A Fuego Lento," which they both wrote and performed together.

The list of the seven songs competing in this category, along with their performers and creators, was unveiled in a video by the Cuban duo Gente de Zona. "Congratulations to all the nominees," expressed the Latin Grammy Awards on their Instagram account.

This marks the first Latin Grammy nomination for the 32-year-old artist, although she has previously been nominated for the American Grammy Awards. In 2017, during the 60th edition of the event, she was nominated in the category of Best Latin Jazz Album for "Oddara," a record by Canadian saxophonist Jane Bunnett, in which Daymé participated with the Cuban female group Maqueque.

Additionally, rapper Al2 El Aldeano is nominated along with Vico C in the Best Rap/Hip Hop Song category for "Blam Blam."

Three Cubans are vying for the Best Traditional Tropical Album award: Alex Cuba with "Voces de mi familia," Yelsy Heredia with "Los Mismos Negros," and Yeisy Rojas with "A mis ancestros."

In the Best Latin Jazz Album category, Sammy Figueroa competes alongside Cubans Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Aymée Nuviola for "Searching For A Memory (Busco Tu Recuerdo)." Rubalcaba is also nominated with "Collab," alongside Hamilton De Holanda.

Moreover, Paquito D'Rivera aspires to win the award for Best Contemporary Classical Composition for "Caribbean Berceuse."
