An elderly Cuban resident of Bayamo has successfully recovered his stolen bicycle, thanks to the proactive efforts of the store owners where the vehicle was reportedly taken. The bicycle was returned due to the cooperation of an individual who identified the thief and notified the authorities, according to a post in a local buy-and-sell group on Facebook.

Prior to this, the store owners had posted a photo of the alleged criminal and asked the community to report any recognition immediately so they could file a complaint. Shortly after, another post confirmed that the bicycle had been returned to its rightful owner.

The store expressed their gratitude on social media "to the person who helped locate the thief" and warned wrongdoers that theft would not be tolerated. "Anyone attempting to steal from our business will face consequences. We will not tolerate crime and stand up for our community. Thieves caught in our store will be dealt with severely to ensure respect," they stated.

This incident is part of a broader wave of violence that has plagued Cuba for several years, with many such incidents being reported at stores selling rationed food items. A total of 48 robberies were committed at provincial food stores in Las Tunas during the first half of the year, primarily concentrated in the main territory and Puerto Padre municipality, with a significant increase in July and August, according to official reports.

Additionally, this week saw the capture and accusation of several young individuals from the Cumanayagua municipality in Cienfuegos, who were allegedly part of a gang robbing local homes.
