Cubana Shares Shocking Observations After Moving to the USA: "You See Things You Never Imagined"

Friday, September 20, 2024 by Daniel Colon

A Cuban woman took to TikTok to share the most shocking aspects of her new life after arriving in the United States. The protagonist of this video is Zuly Rosales (user @zulanymil), who detailed four surprising aspects of her new country of residence.

Unexpected Daily Practices

The first thing that left her bewildered was the use of clothes dryers. "The first thing was the laundry. How can you explain to me that people don't hang their clothes under the sun? No, people wash their clothes, put them in the dryer, and then the clothes are dry and you put them away. That's it," she remarked, astonished by the common practice of not air-drying clothes, which starkly contrasts with daily life on the island.

The digitalization of everyday life was another element that amazed her: "You can buy furniture, order food, buy clothes, you can do everything with your phone." This level of convenience was something she found quite striking.

Another point that caught her off guard was the widespread use of various means of transportation instead of walking. "I feel a bit self-conscious because every time I go out, I'm the only one walking. People don't walk here." Being accustomed to moving around on foot in Cuba, she was taken aback by how most people in the United States rely on some form of transportation.

Lastly, the Cuban woman pointed out that American supermarkets left her in awe. "You walk in and see things you never imagined existed," she said, amazed. "I'm still adapting; it's challenging, but I'm getting used to it," concluded this young Cuban about her new life.
