Aly Sánchez Prioritizes Family Over Everything Else in Her Visits to Cuba

In Miami, several artists face open scrutiny for their frequent trips to Cuba. However, Aly Sánchez, an actress and comedian, has largely escaped such criticism, particularly from her followers. In an interview with "Destino Tolk," she revealed what drives her to return to her homeland.

A Personal Stance

"Everyone has their own point of view and content," Sánchez stated. "Obviously, if you don't have political content, you have no reason to get involved in that. I understand everyone. If you're not going back for this reason or that, because you can't, because you're not allowed, because you chose another path, because you're paid, or because you truly feel dedicated to politics—all those reasons are understandable to me," she said.

Sánchez emphasized her priorities: "I've always believed that my family comes first, and everything else comes afterward. I will never allow my family to starve or for someone to die without me being there," she stressed.

Like many Cubans in exile, Sánchez finds it crucial to support her loved ones on the island. "Since I came to this country in 2007, my entire family in La Güira, Banao, and the few who live in the city, all rely on me," she explained.

"I've always understood this and never felt the need to justify myself because I believe you shouldn't have to justify actions taken from the heart. My followers have never judged me; if anyone has judged me, it's someone who doesn't follow me and doesn't know me," Sánchez added.

Her most recent trip to Cuba was in August, following her grandmother's fall and subsequent hip fracture.
