A Dominican social media user mocked the unfortunate experience of a Cuban tourist who claimed he was scammed in Punta Cana. Arias, a TikTok influencer with thousands of followers, posted the account of a young Cuban who felt disappointed by his visit to the renowned resort.
In the video, which has recently gone viral, the Cuban recounts how, upon arriving at Saona Beach with his wife and a couple of friends, he was approached by a man who complimented his physique. Before he could react, the man placed a parrot on his shoulder and took several photos.
Moments later, another man did the same with an iguana, and a woman took pictures of him with a monkey. The tourist, who believed he was popular among the locals, continued walking only to be approached by another person demanding money for the photographs: $30 each for the parrot photos, $60 for the iguana, and $80 for the ones with the monkey.
"You guys have covered me in animals. I just got off the motorcycle, and suddenly there's a parrot and an iguana on me. What is this?" protested the visitor. After a long argument, he agreed to pay only for two of the parrot photos, totaling around $40 or $60.
"And then, every time I bought something else, they would say, 'give me $10 more for the children in schools.' And I would say, 'Who are these children, what schools?' Whatever you buy is $15 more for the children in schools," he complained.
