Sunday, September 22, 2024 by Abigail Marquez

A pregnant Cuban woman took to social media to reveal the dire conditions at the Maternity Hospital in Matanzas during nighttime power outages. The young woman, named Sheyla, expressed her shock at the reality that even healthcare facilities are not spared from electricity cuts.

"It's unbelievable, but true. This is what a maternity hospital in Cuba looks like. It was around 10 PM and the place was completely dark," Sheyla stated.

Sheyla, who is in the later stages of her pregnancy, also criticized other aspects of the hospital's operation. She noted the lack of storage facilities for patients and their companions, and the absence of chairs in the waiting areas, forcing her to sit on the stairs.

"And at night, you already know, another huge blackout. In a place where there are small children, but well, they don't care about anyone here," she concluded.
