Cuqui La Mora Warns of Potential Scams Involving Unsolicited Packages

Tuesday, September 24, 2024 by Amelia Soto

The well-known Cuban comedian Cuqui La Mora (@cuquilamoracomediant) recently alerted her TikTok followers about a potential scam she encountered. In the video, Cuqui showcased a package she received at her home through Amazon, which had her full name and address but contained an item she did not order. What caught her attention the most were the multiple QR codes on the package, raising her suspicions.

"I'm sharing this so it doesn't happen to you. I've seen on social media that there's a scam where they send you an Amazon product with all your details, and when you open it, it's something you never ordered," Cuqui explained in the video. She mentioned that the package contained a fish tank accessory, despite not owning a fish tank or placing such an order. "I checked my Amazon orders, and it's not there, even by mistake," she noted, emphasizing that she would not be scanning the QR codes.

Be Cautious with Unsolicited Packages

Cuqui urged her followers to be vigilant if they receive unexpected packages and to avoid scanning any QR codes that come with them. She also recommended checking their purchase history on Amazon to verify if the received item was actually ordered.

Followers quickly responded to Cuqui's warning, sharing similar experiences with Amazon packages. Some expressed gratitude for the information. "I received a set of knives, but I loved it and didn't care who sent it," one user commented. Another laughed, saying, "If I get an Amazon package in my name by mistake, Amazon is never seeing it again." A different follower mentioned, "I got deodorants and a bra," adding humorously that they also had no idea where it came from.

User Reactions and Experiences

Several users reported receiving suspicious packages but chose to keep the items and discard the QR codes. "The same thing happened to me; I received something I didn't order, obviously kept the product, and threw everything else away," one user wrote. Another noted that while they hadn't experienced this personally, they had seen posts warning about fraudulent shipments: "It hasn't happened to me, but it's definitely occurring, not just with Amazon but with rings too; stay alert."

Cuqui concluded her video with a clear warning: do not scan anything from unsolicited packages and always stay vigilant about such potential scams, as they could jeopardize personal data security.
