A Cuban woman living in Canada has taken to TikTok to share a cautionary tale about her recent shopping experience. Known as @azulina076 on the platform, she emphasized the importance of checking receipts before leaving stores to avoid being overcharged.

"I'm here to teach you and remind you to check your receipts before exiting the store. You don't want them to take your money for nothing," she begins in her video. The young Cuban woman recounts how she went to purchase three pairs of socks, originally priced at $7.99 but marked down to just a dollar. At the register, she confirmed with the cashier that the discount was valid. However, upon later reviewing her receipt, she noticed she had been charged the full $7.99.

But her troubles didn't end there. She also inquired about two T-shirts that were advertised at a reduced price of five dollars. Despite the cashier's assurance that the discount was correct, she discovered after leaving the store that she had been charged the original price for these items as well.

"Protect Your Money and Check Your Receipts"

"Folks, when I got to my car and checked my receipt, I saw that I had been charged the original prices. Protect your money, check your receipts, and go back if necessary," she concludes. Her video resonated with many, who shared their own similar experiences in the comments.

"This happened to me at Walmart, they overcharged me by $50!" one commenter wrote. "This happens a lot, you have to be vigilant," another added. "I think this is becoming very common in various places," and "So true, it's unbelievable," echoed other voices.

Her message serves as a critical reminder for consumers to remain vigilant and ensure they are not being unfairly charged during their shopping trips.
