This Tuesday, a team of firefighters successfully rescued a cat that was reportedly stuck on the roof of a colonial house in Sancti Spíritus. The ARCA Sancti Spíritus Foundation shared the moment on Facebook, showing the firefighters climbing up a ladder to reach the terrified feline.

ARCA expressed their gratitude, stating, "We can always count on them, always willing to help us because, for them, animals are important. Thanks to all the firefighters," they said.

In the comments, several individuals praised the firefighters for their efforts in animal welfare, noting that they have done more than other institutions like the police and the Ministry of Agriculture, who are officially responsible for animal protection.

Dianilys Torres commented, "The Sancti Spíritus fire department works more for animal defense than the PNR and the Ministry of Agriculture, who are useless. Congratulations to the fire department."

Recent Rescues Highlight Firefighters' Commitment

In May, firefighters in Havana rescued a dog trapped on a rock near the Malecón wall after a person alerted them via social media. "Help! I just found this dog here in the sea, I can't help him, but please someone rescue him. He is here at the Malecón, right in front of Maceo's statue," the user posted on Facebook.

A similar incident occurred in 2023 when a Cuban firefighter unit responded to a call for help to rescue a dog that had fallen down a ravine in Havana. "A group of protectors from the Playa municipality, together with the person who reported the case and the firefighters, collaborated to rescue the dog from the ravine," Alexa Milena Duran Ruiz posted in the Facebook group Somos Tu Voz, sharing images of the event.

These repeated instances highlight the dedication and responsiveness of the Cuban firefighters, especially in contrast to other governmental bodies that have failed to address animal welfare issues adequately.
