In a tragic incident, a Cuban doctor who had been living legally in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, for the past year with his wife and young daughter, took his own life on Sunday while looking after his two-year-old child, according to local media reports.

The deceased, identified as 34-year-old Dayán Viñas, was employed as a chicken handler at the Central de Abastos in the area. Viñas used a cable to hang himself from the window of his living room while his wife, Claudia Morales, was attending beauty school classes in Tampico. Upon returning to their home in the Jardín 20 de Noviembre neighborhood, Morales discovered the harrowing scene of her husband deceased while their toddler played in another room.

Morales, who had been married to Viñas for six years, tried desperately to cut the cable attached to the window grille, but it was too late—Viñas showed no signs of life. She informed authorities that Viñas had previously threatened to end his life on multiple occasions. As of the latest update, no further details about this heartbreaking event have been released.
