Eight workers were injured on Thursday morning due to a fire that broke out during welding operations on a barge in Havana Bay. Energy and Mines Minister Vicente de la O Levy announced on the social network X that the blaze was promptly contained, and the injured workers were receiving medical care.

O Levy shared a photo depicting one of the injured workers receiving medical treatment. Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, a commander, was also present at the hospital alongside the Energy and Mines Minister.

According to Jair Morales Rodríguez, a party official who posted on X, the incident occurred on a barge not used for energy generation but for housing and logistics by the Turkish company Karen. He added, "So far, there are no fatalities, but eight workers have been injured, including one Turkish national in critical condition."
