In the heart of Santiago de Cuba, residents apprehended a thief who was attempting to snatch a phone from a young woman. The incident, recounted by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta on his Facebook page, saw the culprit dragged through the streets by an angry mob. The enraged crowd beat the thief and marched him with restrained arms to the nearest police station.

"Many have applauded the lynching, arguing that if they don't take matters into their own hands, these criminals will be back to their old ways in a matter of days," noted Mayeta.

A local resident disclosed that the thief hails from Havana and had come to Santiago to commit theft. He attempted to hide in a house located at the intersection of San Bartolomé, San Germán, and San Francisco.

"He snatched a phone from an elderly man, prompting us neighbors to act swiftly. The culprit had been lurking around the area for about three days, and he admitted that he engages in thefts back in Havana," the resident elaborated.

Apparently, the thief is married to a young woman residing on Paseo Martí.
