Cuban feminist platforms are actively seeking information regarding a woman who was reportedly assaulted in Guantánamo. The gender violence observatories YoSíTeCreo en Cuba (YSTCC) and Alas Tensas (OGAT) have reached out to the community for assistance in locating Lisbet Daudinot Lugo.

Lisbet, an adult woman, was allegedly attacked around August 19 in San Antonio del Sur. "If you have any information about extreme cases of gender violence, please contact: YSTCC's Observatory of Feminicides via Messenger at yositecreoencuba@gmail.com or OGAT's Gender Observatory via WhatsApp at +34 624 88 30 48, or email at observatorio@alastensas.com," they announced on social media.

False Reports and Continued Monitoring

Earlier this week, YSTCC and Alas Tensas condemned the dissemination of a false report about the murder of a woman in Matanzas by "unscrupulous individuals or those with a disinformation agenda." "This isn't the first time the observatories have had to combat 'fake news,' which has also been reported in cases involving the disappearance of women, girls, and boys," they stated in a press release.

The observatories OGAT and YSTCC adhere to a methodology tested in observatories worldwide to avoid falling prey to manipulations and even distasteful jokes concerning sensitive issues like femicides and disappearances of women, girls, boys, and adolescents," they clarified.

Current Cases and Statistics

Both organizations are currently monitoring four reported cases in Las Tunas, Matanzas, Camagüey, and Guantánamo. From January to September 23, their underreporting has recorded 38 femicides, three attempted femicides, six cases needing police investigation access, and two gender-related murders of men.
