Cuban ballplayer Yasmani Grandal continues to make his mark in Major League Baseball, recently securing a spot in the top five switch-hitting catchers with the most home runs in the history of the sport.

On Saturday, during a game between his team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the New York Yankees, Grandal hit his 194th home run, surpassing the legendary Jason Varitek. This achievement further cements his position among the all-time greats in his position.

According to journalist Francys Romero on Facebook, Grandal is currently only behind Jorge Posada (275), Ted Simmons (248), Mickey Tettleton (245), and Todd Hundley (202) in terms of home runs by switch-hitting catchers.

Grandal’s accomplishment highlights his prowess not just defensively but also as a powerful offensive force, particularly as a switch-hitter. Each additional home run he hits brings him closer to an even more prestigious spot on this elite list, reinforcing his status among the best catchers in MLB history.
