The Havana Electric Company announced on Sunday that several areas of the Cuban capital are experiencing power outages due to a shortfall in the National Electric System's generation capacity.

Through a post on its Facebook page, the company stated that initially, the service disruption is scheduled for customers in Blocks #1 and #2 between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.

In response to this situation, the Electric Union (UNE) is urging the population to implement energy-saving measures to reduce electricity consumption in the province. The note emphasized the importance of public cooperation to avoid overloading the electrical grids and to minimize service disruptions.

Additionally, the gradual restoration of electric service has begun in Blocks No. 3 and No. 4, which could provide some relief to the affected residents.

Despite the resilience developed by Cubans to endure massive blackouts, Saturday's power outages once again surpassed the threshold of 1,300 megawatts of "disruptions," intensifying the silent discontent that pervades a country under the rule of an incapable government clinging to power.

As many feared and as is often the case, the power cuts exceeded the UNE's forecast, which estimated "an impact of 1,221 MW during peak hours."
