Like many Cubans returning to their homeland after living abroad, a Cuban woman from the United States decided to surprise her mother by not informing her of her visit. This decision led to unexpected consequences that she now advises against.
Through her TikTok account, where she goes by @nails_by_mayi, the woman shared the emotional reunion. However, the surprise ended with a trip to the hospital after her mother's blood pressure spiked.
"I don't recommend doing this. I was with mom at the clinic until 3 a.m. because her blood pressure was high, but thank God she's okay and enjoyed her grandson's company during the 10 days I was there," she wrote. The video shows her arriving at her mother's house with her son, capturing the heartwarming yet stressful moment.
According to her account, the overwhelming joy of seeing her daughter and grandson after such a long time caused her mother to have a hypertensive episode.
Health Scare at Reunion
Thankfully, the situation did not escalate further, and her mother recovered well enough to enjoy their time together.
"I've seen people almost have a breakdown from surprises like this, but they keep doing it. I hope no one else has such a scare. Blessings to you and your family," one commenter noted. Another said, "It's lovely, but you have to be careful with older folks. I couldn't surprise my mom or grandmothers; it was too risky."
