Eduardo Antonio Fires Back at Critics Over His Recent Outfits: "Cubans Have Style and Glamour"

Monday, September 30, 2024 by Elizabeth Alvarado

Eduardo Antonio's recent outfit choices for various social events have sparked a mix of admiration from his loyal fans and a flood of criticism on social media. The Divo of Placetas didn't hold back in his response to the negative feedback, asserting that his fashion selections are all about style and glamour.

"I'll keep shouting to the world that Cubans are not starving and we possess style and glamour. It's unfortunate how many negative comments come from my own people, who still don't understand that artists have a style that isn't better or worse, just different from the rest of the world," the singer wrote.

To his critics, he delivered a strong message: "That's where the controversy and admiration start. How many men criticize me who've never worn a tuxedo with a bow tie, and women who've never donned a corset, stockings, garters, a gala dress, and false eyelashes, let alone know how to carry a purse, yet they talk to me about image consultancy."

He added, "I understand the lack of knowledge about international fashion trends, but it's okay. I've always been a pioneer. What is criticized and mocked today will one day be historical and iconic, something future generations will aspire to wear. Thank God I'm a Cuban, empowered, successful, and a true artist. I'll keep shouting to the world that Cubans are not starving and we have style. Now, they have me as their international spokesperson."

The peak of the criticism occurred this weekend when Eduardo Antonio attended Cuban businesswoman Jenisbel Acebedo's birthday party dressed in a Met Gala-inspired outfit, complete with a veil and a cape.

On Saturday, he turned heads at Srta Dayana's wedding, wearing a designer suit that was quite the visual spectacle.

Last week, he arrived like royalty at the Miss Universe Cuba gala, sporting a floor-length sparkling cape.

But that wasn't all. Alongside all the contestants, he strutted one of his signature walks in a yellow polka-dot suit and golden knee-high boots.
