Cuban actor Héctor Noas has sent a heartfelt message to his friend and colleague, Diana Rosa Suárez, who is currently hospitalized in Guyana following a heart attack. "My dear! My beloved daughter... you will recover as you always have, and we will continue celebrating your birthdays and successes because you are not only an iconic actress but also one of the best human beings I've ever known," he wrote on his Facebook account. "Cubans, wherever we are, want to keep seeing you smile. Kisses," he concluded.
Health Update and Medical Care
On Tuesday, Cuban journalist Julita Osendi provided an update on Diana Rosa Suárez's health. Suárez, who suffered a heart attack and is also battling pneumonia, is being treated by Cuban and Guyanese doctors. "The Cuban embassy has taken charge," Osendi stated. She added that when Diana was initially evaluated at the Cardiovascular Hospital in Havana, doctors advised her to be admitted, but she refused due to her planned flight to Guyana.
"A coronary angiography is expected to be performed on Wednesday to determine the appropriate treatment," Osendi specified.
Previous Health Scare and Travel to Guyana
Last Saturday, while still in Havana, Suárez experienced severe chest pain and was taken to the Cardiology Institute, where she underwent two electrocardiograms. Despite her condition, she flew to Guyana, where local doctors confirmed she had suffered another heart attack approximately three months ago and recommended a month of complete rest.
Diana Rosa traveled to Guyana to attend an appointment at the U.S. embassy to process a visa, allowing her to reunite with her granddaughters and nieces. Her interview was scheduled for Wednesday.
Efforts to Ensure Proper Medical Care
A source close to the actress told our publication that prior to her hospitalization, doctors advised against moving her, even to an intensive care unit, due to the risk of transporting her down two floors. However, this assessment appears to have changed.
Julita Osendi previously explained that the Cuban Ministry of Culture was aware of Suárez's situation and promised to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Health to ensure she would be attended to by Cuban doctors on a mission in Guyana.
Celebrating a Milestone
On August 30, Diana Rosa Suárez celebrated her 80th birthday with a grand party surrounded by friends and colleagues, including Tahimí Alvariño, Paula Alí, Verónica Lynn, Néstor Jiménez, Mario Aguirre, Héctor Noas, Miriam Socarrás, and Gretel Cazón, as well as presenter Marino Luzardo and singers Beatriz Márquez and Héctor Tellez.
Born in the Luyanó neighborhood of Havana, Diana Rosa Suárez is a grandmother to two granddaughters who reside in the United States.
