Children Born in the USA Disappointed by Cuban Amusement Park Experience

Thursday, October 3, 2024 by Ernesto Alvarez

The anticipation of exploring an amusement park in Cuba quickly turned into disappointment for a group of children born in the United States. A TikTok user known as Jensy (JMCapote) shared a video depicting her children's experience at the Camilo Cienfuegos amusement park located in Camagüey.

Upon arriving at the park, the children were met with outdated and rusty rides that fell short of their expectations for speed and excitement. The attractions were in poor condition and poorly maintained, leading the kids to declare them simply "boring."

Additionally, the children were disheartened by the cotton candy, which lacked the vibrant rainbow colors they had hoped for and instead appeared in a dull brown shade due to the use of brown sugar. The kids were reluctant to even touch it, claiming it looked dirty, as their mother recounted.

The rustic and plastic toys sold at the park also failed to capture their interest. In a reflective moment at the end of her video, the TikTok user expressed empathy for Cuban children who grow up without experiencing a different world of entertainment. "It pains me to think they've never seen anything better," she remarked, while managing her children's frustration.

Food Handling Concerns Add to Frustration

To make matters worse, during their time on the island, the family witnessed the poor handling of food. They observed a piece of meat being tossed onto a tarp on the floor before being dragged across the ground, even having a man walk over it with his boots, before it was served.
