Cuban Hairstylist in Miami Reflects on Fake Lottery Prank: "I Won a Million Blessings"

Thursday, October 3, 2024 by Matthew Diaz

Nayla became an unexpected sensation among the Cuban community on social media this Wednesday after a video of her seemingly winning a million-dollar lottery scratch-off went viral. The ticket, however, turned out to be a prank orchestrated by her boss, who shared the moment on his Instagram and TikTok accounts. It wasn't until hours later that the truth came out, and the Miami-based Cuban hairstylist decided to share her side of the story on TikTok to clear up any confusion.

Nayla recounts how it all began on what she thought was just another ordinary day at work. Her boss, known for his motivational gestures, decided to surprise the team. "It was my anniversary of arriving in this country with my child," she mentions, having brought a flan to celebrate. Her boss handed out scratch-off tickets, encouraging everyone to try their luck. In her innocence, she scratched hers and discovered she had supposedly won the grand prize of a million dollars.

The excitement was so overwhelming that she even went to a store to verify the ticket, but no one told her it was a fake. In the video, Nayla clarifies that she genuinely believed she had hit the jackpot. "We all thought it was real and went to the place where they sell the scratch-offs," she recounted with laughter, remembering the whirlwind of plans that flashed through her mind—from buying her own house to bringing her family over from Cuba.

Everything changed when her boss revealed it was all a joke. "He told me to enjoy the moment," she added, displaying a positive outlook on the situation. Despite the deception, Nayla insists she harbors no hard feelings and feels she's truly gained something valuable. "Even though I didn't win a million dollars, I won a million blessings and positive comments," she expressed in her message.

She noted the outpouring of affection she has received, both from friends and strangers, since the video went viral. With optimism, Nayla concludes her story, emphasizing that while the prank didn't bring her financial gain, it left her with a significant lesson and the chance to continue spreading her positive energy.
