The renowned Cuban actor Luis Alberto García Novoa recently took a trip down memory lane, revisiting the 1987 film Clandestinos, in which he starred alongside Isabel Santos. He staunchly declared that he would never disown the film. On his Instagram account, Luis Alberto shared the film's final scene, where his character Ernesto, a young man fighting against Batista's dictatorship with his girlfriend, is tragically killed. This scene remains one of the most dramatic and poignant moments in Cuban cinema history.

"Ernesto and Nereida, who could just as easily be named Ángel and Norma, acted according to their conscience at that time, with love and for love. Fernando Pérez, Isabel Santos, and I found great joy in creating this film, driven by love. I believe the rest of the cast and all who were involved shared that sentiment," he expressed. "Even after 37 years, I still consider it a beautiful movie. Nothing and no one will force me to disown it. Nor will I disown myself," he affirmed.

Celebrating a Cinematic Milestone

Released in 1988, Clandestinos is a gripping drama directed by Fernando Pérez, portraying the lives of young individuals resisting the oppressive regime of Fulgencio Batista in Havana. Starring Luis Alberto García and Isabel Santos, along with supporting roles by Susana Pérez, René Losada, Amado del Pino, Miguel Gutiérrez, and Miguel Navarro, the film achieved significant success and garnered numerous awards.

Engaging with Fans on Social Media

This week, García Novoa also reached out to his followers through social media, seeking their input on what content they would like to see on his Instagram. "I would like to know what kind of content you would like me to share. Please leave your suggestions in the comments and help me by sharing, so we can have a more enriching experience," he wrote.
