In recent days, Matanzas has been shaken by another disturbing incident of gender-based violence, as a woman was brutally stabbed by her former partner, Luis Miguel Sánchez, after she chose to end their relationship. According to Reina Arrieta, the victim's mother, who shared details on Facebook, the attacker had previously threatened the family, vowing to kill both her daughter and granddaughter if they revealed the ordeal.

Currently, Sánchez remains at large, evading law enforcement after the attack, despite a formal complaint being filed against him. Meanwhile, the victim, Milvia Jorrin, has been discharged from the hospital, as she confirmed in a recent social media post.
