Prayers for El Taiger's Recovery: Alexander Delgado's Emotional Plea

Friday, October 4, 2024 by Madison Pena

Alexander Delgado, visibly shaken, has expressed deep concern over the critical condition of his colleague El Taiger, who is currently fighting for his life after being shot on Thursday in Miami. The leader of Gente de Zona shared his distress in a video posted by journalist Alexis Boentes, describing the incident as a "tragedy" for the genre and for fans of Cuban urban music.

"This is a severe blow for me, not just for all the Cubans who follow his music, for all his friends, and for the entire genre. It's a tragedy; nobody wants something like this to happen," Delgado remarked outside Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital, where numerous artists gathered following the shocking news of El Taiger's shooting.

Call for Unity and Support

"All we need is support, nothing else. I've seen people speculating on social media, but nobody knows anything; we're here, and we know nothing. Let's pray for his survival; it's all we want," Delgado urged, calling for unity, solidarity, and a chain of prayers.

On his own social media, Alexander shared a photo of the pair smiling together, accompanied by a message reflecting his shock and hope for a positive outcome. "I know God will give you the chance to be well and with us again. Stay strong; you're a warrior! I'm here waiting for you, don't let me down!" he exclaimed.

Artists Rally in Support

Randy Malcom, Delgado's bandmate, also expressed his distress online and visited the hospital on Thursday to check on El Taiger, with whom he shares a relationship spanning over 20 years.

The news has sparked a wave of solidarity among Cuban musicians and artists. El Micha and Wow Popy rushed to the hospital, while others like Jacob Forever, Osmani García, Oniel Bebeshito, and Willy Chirino have continuously shared supportive messages on social media, joining the prayer chains for the reggaeton artist's recovery.

In a show of support, performers such as El Yonki, El Chacal, Wampi, and Wow Popy have chosen to suspend their shows or postpone releases during this challenging time for El Taiger.

Critical Hours Ahead

Recent reports indicate that El Taiger's condition remains "extremely critical, and the coming hours are crucial to determining his survival," journalist Daniel Benítez reported on Friday, adding that Miami police were interviewing a person "in relation to this incident."
