Saturday, October 5, 2024 by Grace Ramos

A well-known Cuban child star, Johayron, widely recognized on social media as "Rutina", took part in a heartfelt vigil in Havana this past Friday evening. The gathering was held in support of reggaeton artist El Taiger, who is currently battling for his life in a Miami hospital.

The event began with attendees reciting the Lord's Prayer and Hail Mary. Dressed entirely in white, Rutina led the crowd in the spiritual hymn "Sea el Santísimo," followed by other traditional santería songs. On his Instagram profile, the young star expressed his deep affection, writing, "For my uncle @el_taiger whom I love dearly. Thank you for your beautiful music. @los4.oficial, I stand with you in your grief; I know he will pull through."

Widespread Support Across Borders

In addition to the vigil in Havana, a similar event took place in Miami, attended by urban music figures like Chocolate, El Yonky, Nesty, and Mawell. Meanwhile, dozens of Cubans gathered at the intersection of 23rd Street and the Malecón, near the iconic "cascada" of the Rampa, to show their solidarity.

Support for El Taiger has also poured in across social media platforms, where colleagues and fans alike have offered prayers and well-wishes for the artist's swift recovery.

Current Condition and Security Measures

Recent updates indicate that El Taiger remains in a critical state. For his safety, he has been moved to a more secure hospital ward, which is under constant police surveillance.
