On Sunday, Lis Cuesta Peraza, the wife of Cuba's leader Miguel Díaz-Canel, joined the growing wave of support for the reggaeton artist El Taiger, who is in critical condition after being shot in the head last Thursday.

In an initial post on the social media platform X, Cuesta expressed, "In various cities across Cuba and Miami, people are holding vigils for El Taiger, a well-loved urban artist both here and there, who was a victim of a violent crime in South Florida."

She further commented alongside a Facebook post from the Cuban Music Institute: "The Cuban nation is united, despite attempts to divide it with hatred. We hope for his recovery and send strength to his family and friends."

Cuesta's remarks, often noted for their forced mix of topics, did not go unnoticed. Renowned journalist Mario J. Pentón remarked, "Naturally, the NOT First Lady of the Cuban dictatorship takes this opportunity to politicize the solidarity shown to El Taiger."

José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar, one of Cuba's leading urban singers, suffered severe injuries last week and is currently fighting for his life at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.
