"A Time for Unity Through Faith": Cuban in USA Reflects on El Taiger's Plight

Wednesday, October 9, 2024 by Ernesto Alvarez

Cuban expatriate Lien BM, who has resided in the United States for three years, recently broke her silence on TikTok regarding the dire condition of El Taiger. The artist is currently hospitalized at Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the forehead last Thursday. Although Lien typically steers clear of controversies, this time she shared her "humble opinion," stirring reactions across social media.

"I wasn't fond of the way he was conducting himself, but I resonate with the sanctity of life. The only authority over life and death is God," expressed @lien.bm candidly in a video. She also highlighted the solidarity among Cuban musicians rallying around El Taiger during this challenging time. "It's unfortunate that such a severe incident had to occur for the genre to unite, but the key thing is, they are now," she noted sincerely.

In her video, Lien drew parallels with other music giants like Benny Moré or Héctor Lavoe, who also faced dark times. "The priority now is his recovery," she emphasized, acknowledging that despite her disagreements with El Taiger, his music once got "all of Cuba dancing," a fact that cannot be denied.

Her message resonated widely, with comments of support pouring in: "No matter who you are, you're a human being, and only God has the right to take you. He will recover, a thousand blessings to him," one follower wrote. Another couldn't contain their emotion: "Every word from this girl gives me chills."

Many praised Lien's reflection, underscoring the importance of empathy during such times. "Hearing words like these restores my spirit. No more hatred; let peace reign, and love heal our hearts," another emotional follower shared.

Lien's message extended beyond the personal to the broader Cuban community. "We always want to elevate the Cuban flag, and this is the time to do it with love, not controversy," she urged, calling for unity among Cubans during these trying times.

Lien BM's video has touched thousands, delivering a powerful message: this is not a time for division but a call for solidarity. As one supporter commented, "He could become the most beautiful testimony of second chances." Although El Taiger's condition remains critical, he is not lacking in support and faith from his community.
