Residents are anxious about what might happen once Milton, expected to make landfall on Wednesday afternoon or evening, arrives. This community is accustomed to frequent flooding but always anticipates the worst scenarios.
In an interview with journalist Rolando Nápoles from America Tevé, a local resident expressed frustration, mentioning he might soon need to purchase a boat since a simple raft won't suffice. Another neighbor pointed out that even a minor rain shower floods their area, raising concerns about the upcoming hours.
Preparations and Warnings Ahead of Milton
The forecast predicts that torrential rain bands linked to Hurricane Milton, now a Category 4 storm, will begin impacting the area on Tuesday afternoon. A flood watch remains in effect until Thursday, prompting Miami-Dade county officials to urge residents to prepare. The National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm warning for Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties on Tuesday morning. However, the most severe impact is expected in Central Florida, where Hurricane Milton is anticipated to hit hardest. As of this morning, Milton was a powerful Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 145 mph.
