Grandmother of El Taiger Shares Heartfelt Message with Her Grandson

Thursday, October 10, 2024 by Alex Smith

Nidia, the beloved grandmother of El Taiger, has consistently expressed a deep affection for her grandson, comparing him to a son. At 90 years old, she has sent him a message that has profoundly touched the hearts of the singer's fans, who continue to pray for him amidst his serious health crisis.

A video circulated on social media by "La Familia Cubana" features Nidia, who is in the early stages of Alzheimer's, reminding El Taiger to "behave himself." Earlier this week, she visited the San Lázaro sanctuary in Santiago de Las Vegas, though it remains uncertain if "Bubu"—as she affectionately calls him—fully comprehends El Taiger's current medical condition.

"He needs to remember he's a man, that I almost gave birth to a man. He should behave and not cause me any headaches or worries," she conveyed when asked to send a message to her grandson. "He knows he is my life, he knows it because there are two people I love most in this world—him and this woman," she added, referring to another granddaughter present during her statement.

Family's Unyielding Support

Alongside this touching moment, "La Familia Cubana" shared an emotional video on Instagram featuring El Taiger's grandmother, one of his young daughters, and other loved ones united in prayer, fervently wishing for his recovery. Nidia, who has maintained a special bond with her grandson since the passing of her daughter (El Taiger's mother), entered the church accompanied by a choir singing “¡Levántate la tranca!” in tribute to the artist.

El Taiger has always shown a profound connection to his family in Cuba, often citing them as a primary reason for his frequent visits to the island. Last December, he surprised his grandmother Nidia by celebrating her 90th birthday with a mariachi band at one of Havana's finest restaurants.

Challenges for Family Members

Jorge Junior, El Taiger's cousin and a fellow singer, revealed this week that he has been unable to travel to the United States to see El Taiger, as he is waiting for a humanitarian visa that neither he nor his mother has yet received.

Current Health Situation of El Taiger

Amid rampant rumors regarding the death of José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, known as El Taiger, his representative clarified in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon that the artist is still valiantly fighting for his life at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

"El Taiger is medically alive," stated the artist's legal representative. "The situation is incredibly complex and delicate, as we do not yet have clarity on what transpired," the spokesperson added.

Additionally, it was explained that the hospital cannot release information to anyone other than immediate family, emphasizing the urgent need for a family member's presence in the country. "The situation is grave, and while we hold on to a sliver of hope, we are also preparing for any eventual outcome," concluded the representative.
