El Taiger in Critical Condition, Clinging to Life

Wednesday, October 9, 2024 by Charlotte Gomez

Amidst swirling rumors of his death, the manager of Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar, known by his stage name El Taiger, has confirmed that the musician is still battling for his life at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. This follows a gunshot wound to the head on October 3rd. "El Taiger is medically alive," stated the artist's legal team in a bulletin released at 6:00 PM.

The situation remains extremely complex and delicate, with no clear understanding yet of what transpired, according to his representative. The musician's family remains in Cuba. The severity of El Taiger's condition has already shaken the Cuban music community and his global fan base, who have been closely monitoring his progress since he was admitted in critical condition last Thursday.

This incident has also made headlines in various media outlets across Cuba, the United States, and Spain, where his hit song "La Historia" dominated the charts for two consecutive summers. Considered by many as the most significant reggaeton artist of his generation in Cuba, El Taiger remains in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital, with the bullet having impacted part of his brain.

Suspect at Large: The Hunt for "El Narra"

On October 7th, Miami police announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Damián Valdez-Galloso, known as "El Narra," the main suspect in the attack on El Taiger. Police evidence rules out any theories of a suicide attempt and points to Valdez-Galloso, who has a criminal record, as a key person of interest in the investigation. He is currently on the run.
