The renowned Cuban band Los Van Van expressed their sorrow this Thursday over the passing of reggaeton artist José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, known as El Taiger. He had been in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami for a week after suffering a gunshot wound to the head.

The iconic group shared a heartfelt message on their Twitter account, reminiscing about the numerous times they shared the stage with the "tireless warrior." "Los Van Van have just lost a dear FRIEND," the message read. "You truly were a FIGHTER, leaving us while bravely battling to the very end. Your departure profoundly saddens us, yet we are proud to have known you and performed together on multiple occasions."

The statement continued, "Rest in peace, tireless warrior. Our deepest condolences to your family, friends, and all the fans who are grieving today." Los Van Van join many other Cuban artists in mourning the loss of El Taiger.

The 36-year-old singer was pronounced dead this Thursday. An official statement on his Instagram page noted, "He is now reunited with his beloved mother in heaven."

Jorge Junior, El Taiger's cousin and director of the group Los Cuatro, confirmed that the tragic event took place at 12:40 pm.
