Cuban comedian and host Alexis Valdés expressed his sorrow on social media over the passing of reggaeton singer José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar, known as El Taiger. The artist succumbed to his injuries at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, a week after being shot in the head. Valdés shared a heartfelt post on Facebook, featuring a photograph of the pair laughing joyously during a television show appearance.

"What a pity. What a sadness. A guy with that smile," Valdés lamented. "It was a pleasure and an honor to know him, and the profound sorrow lies in knowing we won't share those laughs again."

Reflecting on life's unpredictability, Valdés mused, "Who can unravel life's mysteries? Those who make life better seem to leave us too soon—people brimming with talent and light. They leave the world dimmer, yet their spirit, music, brilliance, uniqueness, courage, witty or wise words, and energy remain with us."

El Taiger, who was 36, was pronounced dead on Thursday afternoon. An official statement on his Instagram page mentioned, "He is now reunited with his beloved mother in heaven."

Valdés was among numerous Cuban artists who extended support to the singer during his hospitalization. Over the weekend, he posted a picture of himself, El Taiger, and singer-songwriter Willy Chirino, all smiling. "We need you healthy and happy, making people dance. That's your calling. Come on, you can't be taken down easily," he encouraged.

In tribute, Valdés, also a singer and composer, dedicated a special song to El Taiger, infused with warmth and affection. "I want to sing this song I just wrote for Jose, or perhaps it was sent to me. Either way, it's meant to be shared with everyone who loves and admires him," he said before performing the piece, accompanied by guitar, in an intimate setting.
