The heartbreaking news of the death of José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, better known as El Taiger, has left a significant void in the Cuban reggaetón scene. Among those deeply impacted by this loss is Damián, who, alongside El Taiger, formed the renowned duo Los Desiguales. The duo played a pivotal role in shaping urban music in Cuba.

Damián shared his grief in a poignant Instagram post, where he reflected on his profound bond with El Taiger. "I know my heart is still there because I can feel it beating. I am completely shattered inside right now," he expressed. The singer compared his current heartbreak to the loss of his father, underscoring the immense magnitude of this tragedy for him.

"I can only imagine that you're now with your mom and dad. You can't fathom how heartbroken you've left your siblings, friends, followers, and fans. I promise we will always remember you. I wanted to believe this was just a nightmare I'd wake up from and say: what a scare! Sadly, it isn't, but you will forever live in my heart, my brother José," added Damián, acknowledging that El Taiger is now reunited with his parents, who passed away in 2020. With these heartfelt words, Damián reveals the deep affection and unbreakable connection he shared with El Taiger, emphasizing that his legacy will endure in the memories of those who loved and admired him.

The duo Los Desiguales was born after both artists left the group Los 4, led by Jorge Jr. They quickly rose to fame, becoming one of the most influential acts in the urban music scene. Some of their hits include "De maravilla," "La contestadora," "No me calientes," and "Yo sigo aquí." During that era, José Manuel was known as El Príncipe.
