Cuban Ball Control Master Erick Hernández Sets New World Record

Sunday, October 13, 2024 by Alexander Flores

Erick Hernández from Cuba continues to amaze the world with his exceptional ball control skills, setting a new benchmark on Saturday by achieving 13,985 touches in one hour using any part of his body at the Copacabana Hotel in Havana. Hernández, a former footballer and holder of multiple global records, shattered the previous record of 11,901 touches held by Mexican Abraham Muñoz, as reported by official journalist Guillermo Rodríguez on Facebook.

Despite surpassing this challenge before with over 12,000 touches, the Guinness Book of Records did not validate the achievement due to insufficient evidence. This time, the 58-year-old Cuban ensured the presence of a team of international referees and comprehensive video documentation to commence the official validation process.

Intense Preparation and Unyielding Dedication

"This challenge is incredibly intense and demanded thorough preparation," Hernández shared with the digital platform JIT. His latest feat adds to an already impressive list of accomplishments, coming shortly after he broke another record by controlling the ball for three hours, seven minutes, and 28 seconds while seated, with a 1.5-kilogram weight on his legs.

With this remarkable achievement, Hernández has now claimed his 80th world record in a breathtaking career, cementing his status as a legendary figure in the art of ball control.
