Cuban in Nebraska Surprises with Spacious Apartment and Affordable Rent: "Better Than Living in Miami"

Monday, October 14, 2024 by Ernesto Alvarez

A Cuban living in Lincoln, Nebraska, has taken to TikTok to showcase his new apartment, highlighting its spaciousness and surprisingly affordable rent. The TikTok user, @soy_edgy, provides a virtual tour of his new home, pointing out key features such as a large kitchen, a generous living room, and an impressively spacious bathroom.

"I recently moved here. The kitchen is quite large; I used to have no room to leave things out. The living room is also roomy. The furniture belongs to the previous tenant, and they’re staying for now because they're expensive. This is my bedroom; there’s another room, but it’s not mine. And here's the bathroom, which is very spacious. I pay $800 a month for this apartment. There are two of us living here, so we each pay $400. I don’t live in Miami or Florida. Would you move to the middle of nowhere like I did for such cheap rent in such a large place, or are you someone who wouldn’t leave Miami?” he explains in his video.

Stirring Curiosity About Life in Nebraska

The video has piqued the curiosity of many Cubans, eager to learn more about life in Nebraska, especially when compared to the high rents in Miami. “What city in Nebraska? I can’t stand Miami anymore, need info please!” one user commented, while others noted the price differences: “In Miami, $2,500 for two bedrooms and a bath,” “Congrats, great deal for that place!” and “I used to live in Florida and left quickly. Now I’ve been in Iowa for four months, paying $1,000 for four bedrooms and two baths, super spacious,” another shared. One more chimed in, “And here I am paying nearly $1,600 for a place half that size in Florida.”

Considering Relocation for Cheaper Living

The stark contrast in living costs between states like Nebraska and Florida seems to be encouraging more people to consider relocating to areas where rent is significantly more affordable.
