"Texas Troubles: Cuban Woman Sparks Heated Debate Over State's Downsides"

Wednesday, October 16, 2024 by Isabella Sanchez

A Cuban woman known as @yilypink on TikTok has ignited a lively discussion with her video, which has already garnered over 120,000 views in less than 15 hours. In the clip, she highlights three aspects of living in Texas that she dislikes, sparking a flurry of reactions on social media.

With a laid-back attitude, Yily expressed her first grievance about the water, describing it as "yellow and terrible." She also criticized the oppressive heat, noting that Texas's electrical system differs from Florida's, requiring payments to two companies, which drives up costs when everyone cranks up the air conditioning. Lastly, she mentioned the speed of drivers on the freeways, often exceeding 90 or 100 miles per hour, which compels her to stay in the middle lane.

The video drew a mix of responses, many of which were critical. One user remarked, "Well, you have two options, stay or leave," to which Yily calmly replied, "It's just a video, I have others where the change was the best for me." A defender of Texas chimed in, "I've been here 30 years, and it's the best," while another attempted to refute her claim: "I've never seen yellow water in Dallas." Some comments were harsher, such as, "The roads are open if you want to go back where you came from" and "Only the strong survive here, if you can't, go back where you came from."

Despite the barrage of criticisms, Yily remained composed, clarifying in numerous comments that she wasn't slamming the state, just sharing her opinion. "I only mentioned 3 things; there are many I like," she assured in several responses. Although some reactions were harsh, she also received support: "It's just a simple opinion, but they take it to heart"; "I disagree, but I respect your view. I still prefer Houston TX over Florida"; "Thank you for your comment, the only one worth it"; "It's true, the water is terrible, and people aren't courteous"; "Thanks, a comment from someone who thinks, and mind you, I love Texas," others remarked.

Even though the post stirred controversy, Yilypink made it clear in one of her many comment responses that she loves living in Texas and that if she made a video about what she does like, there would be "a thousand things," not just three.
