Another Cuban Arrested in Miami for Frozen Chicken Truck Heist

Wednesday, October 16, 2024 by Emma Garcia

Jorge Lyen Blanco-Díaz, 38, was apprehended on Monday in connection with the theft of a frozen chicken truck in Miami-Dade, which had a total value of $100,000, according to América TeVé. Blanco-Díaz's arrest follows the recent apprehension of Raúl Bello, 49, who was charged with large-scale cargo theft, vehicle theft, and illegal use of a communication device. The same charges have been filed against Blanco-Díaz.

The Heist Unfolds

The police report indicates that the stolen semi-trailer was worth $80,000, while the attached cargo truck was valued at $60,000. The theft took place in the early hours of September 15, when the owner, who had parked the vehicle near their home on Old State Road 9 and Northwest 155 Lane, was alerted by their sister that the truck was missing. Upon returning, the owner discovered the truck and trailer had been taken.

Tracking Down the Culprits

Authorities tracked the stolen vehicle and located it the same day on Interstate 95, heading north, followed by a white Nissan. Bello was later seen driving the Nissan on September 17, leaving an apartment complex in West Flagler. The investigation uncovered communications between him and Blanco-Díaz, leading to Bello's arrest first, and now his accomplice's.

Inside the Criminal Network

According to reports reviewed by América TeVé, Blanco-Díaz is part of a major theft organization known as "MTO," a criminal network specializing in the theft and resale of stolen goods. He is also suspected of involvement in another cargo theft, still under investigation, that occurred on September 12, 2023. This incident involved the theft of a tractor-trailer loaded with meat products valued at $400,000.

The arrest was facilitated by a GPS device that monitored Blanco-Díaz, linking him to the theft of the semi-trailer and truck. He is currently held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Meanwhile, Bello remains in custody without bail at the Metrowest Detention Center.
