Police Violence in Holguín: Teen's Arm Broken During Soccer Game Arrest
Description not available

A Cuban mother, known on Facebook as Dayanis Ramírez, has brought to light a distressing incident involving her teenage son, who suffered a broken arm at the hands of two police officers attempting to remove him from a soccer field. This incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon in the province of Holguín, where a group of children was playing sports at the University of Medical Sciences' athletic grounds. This venue has long been a meeting spot for local youth to engage in soccer, basketball, and other activities, according to the mother. Among the teenagers present was her 16-year-old son.

Ramírez recounted that several police officers arrived to expel the youths from the sports area, citing that they should not be there. "They treated them like criminals, and when my son expressed his desire to leave, they began to insult him," she explained. Her son reportedly responded by asserting he did not deserve such disrespect, prompting two officers to handle him so roughly that they fractured his arm.

Seeking Justice for Police Misconduct

The mother is determined to pursue justice, insisting that those responsible must be held accountable for the harm caused to her son. "The necessary charges have been filed, and I demand that the justice system in my country fulfills its duty. We will go wherever necessary. They didn't just break his arm; they also beat him. The assault was led by a light-eyed major from Holguín's third police unit. The rest of the officers refuse to disclose their names, but I will uncover them soon—bunch of abusers," she emphasized.

Between 2019 and 2023, police violence has claimed over 90 victims in Cuba, many of whom have yet to see justice served. The incident in Holguín adds to the growing list of grievances against the regime’s law enforcement practices, highlighting a troubling pattern of police brutality under the socialist communist system.
