Trump to Address Hispanic Audience on Major U.S. Spanish Network

Wednesday, October 16, 2024 by Richard Morales

On Wednesday, October 16, President Donald Trump, who is seeking re-election, will make a groundbreaking appearance by addressing Hispanic voters through a national Spanish-language television network in the United States. María Elvira Salazar, a Republican congresswoman, emphasized this as "a first in history," encouraging viewers to tune in: "Will you be watching? I hope so, because Republicans share the same values as Hispanics: God, family, and law and order," she expressed on her X account (formerly Twitter).

Salazar highlighted the significance of this event, noting, "Today is historic because it's the first time a Republican president engages directly with the Hispanic community on a major Hispanic TV network. Hispanics are the most influential minority in this nation; they have the potential to turn Nevada and Arizona into Republican strongholds, securing Trump's presidency. I'm thrilled because, for the first time, Trump will speak directly to Hispanics, affirming that we share core values with the Republican Party: a love for family, God, our country, and the opportunity to live a dignified life in this promised land. I'm confident President Trump will do exceptionally well today,” Salazar declared.

Throughout his campaign, Trump has already outlined the direction of his policies should he return to the White House. Earlier this October, he described undocumented immigrants as "an invasion of violent criminals" during a rally in Wisconsin, vowing to initiate the largest deportation effort in the nation's history. "We are going to conduct the largest deportation ever," he announced to reporters in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. He also indicated plans to start in Springfield, Ohio, and Aurora, Colorado, alluding to a previous discussion with Harris on ABC about Haitian immigrants allegedly consuming pets in these areas.

Recently, at various campaign rallies, Trump reiterated his controversial proposal to implement the death penalty for immigrants convicted of murdering American citizens or law enforcement officers. This statement was made last Friday, October 11, in Nevada: "I demand the death penalty for any immigrant who kills an American citizen or law enforcement official," he proclaimed at a rally in Reno.

With only three weeks remaining until Tuesday, November 5, when Americans will head to the polls, Donald Trump holds a six-point lead over Kamala Harris in Florida, according to a poll released this Sunday. The survey, conducted among 625 registered voters, shows the Republican ticket of Donald Trump and J.D. Vance capturing 49% of the vote compared to 43% for Democrats Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. There remains a 6% undecided voter segment.

Trump has an advantage among white voters (56-37) and Hispanic voters (47-42), while Harris is gaining traction among African American voters (78-12).
