Starting this Thursday, residents relying on the P-8 and P-6 bus routes in Havana may encounter significant challenges in commuting due to potential service disruptions. Transportación Habana TH announced on Facebook that "currently, there are no P-8 or P-6 buses available because the vehicles are out of service," highlighting the suspension caused by technical issues.
In an effort to reassure passengers, the company noted, "Reinforcement buses are expected, we just have to wait for them to arrive." However, no timeline was provided for when the situation might improve, leaving commuters uncertain.
Weather Worsens Commuting Woes
Thursday's transportation troubles are exacerbated by adverse weather conditions, as heavy rains since the early morning have further complicated travel across the city.
Long-Standing Transport Crisis Acknowledged
In July, the Cuban government acknowledged the ongoing transportation crisis plaguing the country. During a session of the Cuban Parliament on Tuesday, it was revealed that over half of the provincial routes remain inactive. Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, the Minister of Transport (Mitrans), reported that as of the end of April, 52% of provincial transportation company routes were out of operation, as stated by the state-run newspaper Granma.
