Living abroad, Sergio Rodríguez, a Cuban expatriate, has issued scathing remarks directed at Miguel Díaz-Canel on social media. He accuses the leader of altering Cuba to such an extent that the country's essence has been lost.

Rodríguez's statements surfaced among the reactions to a post by Díaz-Canel, where the leader dismisses potential U.S. aid while urging the Biden Administration to lift the economic embargo on Cuba, using the hashtag #TumbaElBloqueo. "What blockade? The blockade is you," Rodríguez retorted to the regime, directly addressing Díaz-Canel with heartfelt and harsh words.

"When you assumed the presidency, like many Cubans, I believed you would bring a radical change to the nation. I felt deep admiration and respect for you. Indeed, you achieved that, and then some. You've changed Cuba so much that we no longer know what it has become," Rodríguez expressed.

He claims that gradually, all those who placed their trust in the political change promised by Díaz-Canel's government have become disillusioned. "That respect has transformed into the deepest and darkest contempt a people can feel for a human being."

In his message, Rodríguez urges Díaz-Canel to acknowledge his mistakes and step down, so that mothers can cease their tears and children can be freed from hunger, sleeplessness, and despair.

"Put your hand on your heart, abandon your stubbornness and futile allegiance to the Castros, as ultimately you are just another cog in their malevolent machinery. When that cog wears out, they replace it with a new one and discard the old in a rusty can. That will be your end. Be true to yourself, have the courage and bravery to let the Cuban people determine their own fate," the expatriate advised the leader in power.
