Miss Dayana Reveals Truth Behind Alleged Wedding: "It Was a Marketing Ploy"

Thursday, October 24, 2024 by Samantha Mendoza

The truth is out! After weeks of speculation surrounding Miss Dayana's supposed wedding to Mario in Miami, the Cuban singer has come forward in an interview with Destino Tolk to clarify that it was all a marketing stunt tied to the release of her new music. "Let's get serious, the wedding was part of a production for a music video. We never got married, and I have to thank everyone who was there and helped keep the secret," she explained.

According to Dayana, the idea of the "wedding" originated as a marketing tactic to drum up interest for the music video of "Bonita," a song focused on female empowerment that she recently released on her platforms. Despite Mario—her partner and the father of her child—not being entirely on board with the plan, he agreed to participate to support the singer's career. "Thanks to Mario, because he was the first who wasn't very keen. But when we explained it was a marketing strategy, he did it to support my career," the artist shared.

An Elaborate Marketing Strategy

Dayana also revealed that the concept of spinning an entire narrative around the wedding wasn't entirely her idea. She attributed much of the responsibility to the video’s producer and director, who proposed the strategy to capture public attention. "A whole story was created; I'm not the only one to blame. The main culprit is the producer and director of the video," she clarified. She also offered apologies to anyone who might have felt deceived by the maneuver, acknowledging that Cubans are still learning the ropes of digital marketing and social media.

"It was madness. I'm not one to condone wrongdoing or deceiving people; it was a kind of deceit, but a harmless lie," the singer confessed, adding that the strategy took advantage of the viral buzz created by the controversy, particularly the moment when she appeared saying "cut the live."

The Power of Social Media and Viral Controversy

Although Dayana doesn't fully endorse such tactics, the experience opened her eyes to the power of social media and the potential to spark interest through scandal. The music video for "Bonita," now available on YouTube, indeed features scenes shot during the fabricated wedding between Miss Dayana and Mario. The storyline follows the bride, Miss Dayana, discovering her fiancé's infidelity just before reaching the altar, leading her to embrace self-love and prioritize herself over others. "I celebrate myself, I choose myself, and I accept and love myself with all my flaws," the Cuban artist sings in her song.

Notable figures such as Eduardo Antonio, Lenier Mesa, and Tekashi 6ix9ine appear in the "Bonita" music video, adding to its star-studded appeal.
