Latino Couple Shares Experience of Living in a Car in the U.S.: "We Aim for Safe Spots Like Walmart"

A Colombian couple residing in the United States has taken to TikTok to reveal their daily life living in a car instead of a traditional home or apartment. Through their TikTok account, Edgar Villa Rodríguez (@edgarvilla.b) and his partner provide insights into living in their Kia Forte, which serves as their mobile residence.

The couple has gained considerable popularity on social media, showcasing their unique lifestyle in several viral videos. Some of their most-viewed content includes demonstrations of how they sleep, clean their vehicle—which they consider their home—and describe their daily routines.

In response to questions and comments from followers, the couple shares their aspirations of eventually acquiring a recreational vehicle (RV) or a van. They also make it clear that they do not see this way of living as a hardship, nor is it against any laws. "It's not a sacrifice, and it's not illegal. We love traveling and exploring. Why rent a place we won't actually live in? Just to keep up appearances?" Edgar remarked, addressing critics.

For safety during the night, they emphasize the importance of choosing secure locations. "We always make an effort to stay in safe places like parking lots, Walmart, or other non-dangerous areas," they explain.

This lifestyle, while challenging, highlights a growing trend among people in the United States. Many are opting for this way of living, often driven by the high cost of living and rising rental prices.
