A Cuban woman, driven by the urgent need to find her missing pitbull puppy, turned to social media on Thursday with a reward offer of 15,000 pesos for anyone who can help locate the dog or provide information about its whereabouts. In the Facebook group "Santa Fe Playa, BUY AND SELL," Amanda Lopez Torres shared that her blue-colored pitbull, named Lufy, was stolen on Tuesday night from the Santa Fe neighborhood in the Playa district of Havana.
The owner, clearly distraught, appealed for help by noting that her son is deeply upset over the dog's disappearance. "I know this group isn't meant for this, but I need to find my puppy," she expressed.
Social Media: A New Tool in Pet Recovery
Two weeks ago, another Cuban turned to social networks for assistance in locating his lost dog in Havana, offering a reward of 50 dollars for any leads that would aid in the pet’s recovery.
These incidents add to a growing number of similar situations in Cuba, where families increasingly use online platforms as a means to search for their missing pets, even extending rewards for their return.
In August, a family in Sancti Spíritus offered a 200-dollar reward for their lost dog, and back in April, a young man in Havana promised 50,000 pesos for the safe return of his pet.
