The Cuban YouTuber Alejandro, widely recognized on Instagram as Literalmente Cubano (@literalmente_cubano), recently took his followers on a tour of the Hotel Las Tunas. This establishment, part of the state-run Isla Azul hotel chain, is rated as a three-star hotel. Alejandro was ready for a modest stay in Las Tunas, but what he found in his room was not a matter of limited resources, but rather a fundamental lack of cleanliness.
The poor management and subpar quality of hospitality services at Isla Azul are evident. Alejandro highlighted the lack of cleaning in various parts of the room, sparking a strong response on social media. "This little hotel I'm staying at is called Hotel Las Tunas. It's supposedly a three-star hotel from the Isla Azul chain, which, in other places, would be considered a no-star hotel," the YouTuber quipped in his video, showcasing the room's condition.
A Disappointing Discovery
Upon entering the room, Alejandro encountered a small closet, the only available space for storing clothes and toiletries. The bathroom had hot water and a clean-looking shower, but as he continued filming, unpleasant surprises began to emerge.
The first unsavory find was a stool, which he described as "in terrible shape," pointing out visible grease stains and other unmentionable marks on the furniture. "People must wipe their hands on this like it's a cloth," he remarked, steering clear of the filthy item.
More Alarming Issues
The influencer also criticized the tiny refrigerator in the room, describing it as "sticky." Alejandro emphasized that "the minibar hadn't been cleaned," showing it filled with food crumbs, dust, and dirty water.
He stepped out to enjoy the view from his balcony, only to be met with moldy walls, a stained floor, and even a forgotten t-shirt left by previous guests. "If they haven't cleaned here, I doubt they've cleaned other areas," the YouTuber commented.
An Unfortunate Comparison
Finally, he concluded his tour by showing the hotel's exterior, claiming that it "resembles a countryside school or a pre-university building." It’s one of the well-known Girón-style constructions, similar to Hotel Pasacaballos in Cienfuegos and Hotel Ancón in Trinidad, as well as others across the country.
His observations and video have sparked a wave of criticism on social media, where users are debating the quality of tourism services in Cuba and the poor attention frequently provided to travelers, both locals and foreigners.
