On Tuesday, Tekashi 6ix9ine was detained in New York for allegedly breaching the terms of his probation. According to reports from Telemundo 47 New York, the rapper is accused of violating conditions set in a previous racketeering case, for which he was granted probation to shorten his prison sentence.
Daniel Hernández, the rapper's real name, was scheduled to appear before the same federal judge, Paul A. Engelmayer, on the afternoon of October 29. In December 2019, Judge Engelmayer sentenced him to two years in prison after Hernández pleaded guilty to charges of leading the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang.
During the court appearance, Judge Engelmayer stated that the artist had breached the terms of his probation and ordered him to return to court on November 12. Until then, Tekashi 6ix9ine will remain in custody. His probationary period was initially set to conclude in April of the following year.
The rapper's arrest coincided with an incident involving an influencer at a New York nightclub on Monday night. However, it appears this altercation is unrelated to his detention.
