Cuban Woman in Louisville Claps Back at Kitchen Renovation Critic: "Come Buy It Yourself"

Saturday, November 2, 2024 by Emily Vargas

A Cuban woman residing in Louisville took to her TikTok profile to share glimpses of her kitchen renovation journey, proudly showcasing the transformations she's made in her home. Her post was a direct response to a critical comment from a user who remarked, "A coat of paint would have been better than that cheap plastic."

Known on TikTok as @yisleblogs, this Cuban woman wasted no time in addressing the criticism. With a firm and clear tone, she responded to the detractors while displaying her kitchen in a video. "She’s talking about what I put on the counter, yes, girl, come buy it. Come do it for me. You’re not going to talk about me; let’s go to the store to buy the paint." Using humor and determination, she explained that her home renovations have been a gradual process, with other areas taking priority before she could fully focus on the kitchen.

"I probably haven't shared this, but when I bought the house, my kitchen looked different. I want to create it to my liking someday, not just repair what's there. My taste is simple yet complicated," she remarked. She compared her home's many issues to a "math book," highlighting the challenges she faces.

Temporary Changes with a Personal Touch

"I just brightened it up with that application because the brick was too dark for my taste. But I wasn’t planning on doing anything. To relax, I added that," she admitted, emphasizing that the small changes she made in her kitchen are temporary. With a relaxed tone, she concluded, "Today I’m going to try painting it," before demonstrating the process of painting the brick.

The post quickly resonated with her followers, who praised her positive attitude and practical approach to criticism. Comments flooded in, such as "You always make me laugh! So lovely! I cracked up when you started painting behind the fridge, saying it looked beautiful despite everything," and "I didn’t like you doing what others wanted. Your time is yours, and people don’t realize how much time and money it takes. That person must have no problems, or else they wouldn’t be criticizing."

Another user shared, "That’s how I am. We bought the house earlier this year, and I’ve practically painted the whole house, doors, and all. I have a 5-month-old baby, and even with my belly, I painted a lot. I said, 'The baby’s going to come out a painter.’"
