Security Cameras Capture Trio Stealing Water Pump in Las Tunas

Thursday, October 31, 2024 by Joseph Morales

In the early hours of Wednesday, three individuals were caught on camera stealing a water pump from a building in the city of Las Tunas. This incident was reported by social media user Franklich Fundora Padrón, who shared the footage on Facebook.

The video, posted in the group "Revolico Buena Vista Las Tunas," reveals the thieves breaking into the small masonry and iron enclosure that housed the water pump, completing the theft within minutes. Fundora Padrón urged local residents to contact him privately if they recognize the suspects.

He also addressed those involved in theft, stating, "To those who make a living off others' property, you will likely see this. Let me tell you, your time will come when you least expect it."

Cubans are not only grappling with ongoing shortages of basic goods, frequent power outages, and challenges in accessing potable water across many urban areas, but they are also facing an increase in crime. Even the Cuban regime has admitted that thefts have surged amid the country's widespread crisis. Despite recent claims by the government that crime rates have decreased, the general public has taken to social media to express skepticism, insisting that "it doesn't seem that way."
